A-State Nursing Students Achieve 100% Pass Rate

JONESBORO – Nursing graduates from Arkansas State University (A-State) have even more reason to celebrate after completing their comprehensive nursing examination.

Students earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree through the accelerated and traditional programs achieved a 100% pass rate on the licensure exam from July 1, 2023, to June 30, 2024.

"We just received word that A-State's Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program has a 100% pass rate. Achieving a 100% NCLEX-RN® pass rate is an exhilarating feeling," said Dr. Kathryn Flannigan, interim director of the School of Nursing.

Graduates of pre-licensure nursing programs, whether earning an associate degree or a bachelor's degree, are required to take the NCLEX-RN licensure exam before they can enter the workforce as registered nurses.

"This achievement reflects the hard work each student put in throughout the program, in preparing for and successfully passing the licensure exam on their first attempt," Flannigan added.

She noted that during this same period, the exam structure underwent major changes in format and question style that students would encounter on the test.

"This reflects the hard work each faculty member put in to prepare students throughout the program. Faculty continuously learn and incorporate new question styles into unit exams and final exams to best prepare students," Flannigan continued.

"Being able to report a 100% pass rate for the BSN program is a wonderful recruitment tool. Prospective students and their families always want to know a program's pass rate.

Prospective students and families can trust and know that their nursing education is in the best hands, with faculty invested in their success as pre-licensure nursing students."
