The official cost table for students from Vietnam

Read this as one undergraduate living on campus and carrying 15 credits a semester. Only the tuition line moves for students from Vietnam — housing, food, fees and insurance are billed identically to everyone, which makes the rest of the table a fair budgeting guide whatever passport you hold.

$31,050 for the year at the standard international rate; $23,700 at the Vietnam rate — a $7,350 gap that comes off the tuition bill itself, not as a refund.

The line items follow the 2026–27 cost table A-State publishes for students from Vietnam. Each total is the sum of the lines above it, so the columns add up if you check them yourself. What any individual is actually billed still moves with the credits they enrol in, the hall they live in and the meal plan they pick.

The summer column is smaller because it is built on 9 credits and carries no insurance charge — the academic-year policy already runs through it. Summer study is optional, so most students only need to fund the fall and spring columns. Divided by 15 credits, the Vietnam tuition line is $355 a credit. Airfare, books, day-to-day spending and one-time charges sit outside the table.

Cost FAQ

What does a year really cost?

Per the university’s official 2026–27 example, an undergraduate taking 12 credits per term and living on campus needs about $29,646 a year for tuition, fees, housing, meals and insurance. Flights, personal spending and books are extra (budget another $1,500–2,500 a year).

Is tuition paid per semester or per year?

Per semester. The university bills before each term; international students pay through the university’s international payment gateway (for example Flywire or Convera) by bank transfer from their home country.

Do I have to pay everything before the visa?

No. Before the visa you pay only the $50 application fee and the $350 deposit. You must show proof of funds for one year to receive the I-20, but tuition is paid at enrollment.

What currency is everything billed in?

US dollars. Every figure on this page is the amount the university charges, so plan against your bank’s selling rate on the day you transfer.

Do ELA students pay the same?

No. The ELA has its own rate, estimated at about $6,522 per semester for tuition, fees and insurance (housing and meals not included). See the ELA program page.
