Candidates Selected for A-State Student Government Association Election

JONESBORO – The election for the A-State Student Government Association (SGA) – Arkansas State University will take place this week.

Louis Gonzalez, a junior biology major from Kansas City, Mo., is seeking to become the next SGA president. He is running alongside vice presidential candidate Chauncy Betts, a sophomore strategic communication major from McGehee.

Jake Williams, a sophomore business administration major from Piggott, is also running for SGA president. His running mate for vice president is Kate Malone, a sophomore strategic communication major from Germantown, Tenn.

A debate was held on Monday, March 17, allowing students to meet the candidates as they campaign for votes.

According to Danny Vivar, assistant director of student leadership, voting will begin at 9 a.m. Wednesday, March 19, and end at 9 a.m. Thursday, March 20.

Students can vote by visiting the SGA's Instagram page. Election results will be announced at noon on March 20 on the first floor of the Reng Student Union.
