Events Planned to Welcome Students to A-State During Wolves Up Week

JONESBORO – Classes at Arkansas State University (A-State) begin on Tuesday, August 20, and numerous events will be held before and after classes start to welcome new and returning students.

Most of the Wolves Up Week events will be organized by the Student Activities Board (SAB), with other organizations co-hosting or hosting events.

Panhellenic Sorority Primary Recruitment Week begins on Monday and will run through Friday, August 16. Bid Day will be held on Saturday, August 17, beginning at 9:30 a.m. at Centennial Bank Stadium.

Several events will take place at the Heritage Plaza Lawn, including the Welcome Back Cookout on Saturday, August 17, from 7 to 9 p.m. Splash Bash will take place from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 18. This event, co-hosted by 747 Central College, will feature a water slide, cool snacks, and music by DJ King Vick.

From 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, August 19, Red Wolf Feud will feature a "Family Feud"-themed game, in which attendees will try to name popular answers to survey questions. Refreshments will be provided and prizes will be awarded. For a night of dancing, a Silent Disco will take place at the Red Wolf Center from 9 to 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 20.

Commuter Connections is for first-year students to meet each other and learn about campus. This event takes place on Wednesday, August 21, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Natural State Lounge in the Reng Student Union.

Also on Wednesday, the Multicultural Field Day will be hosted by the Multicultural Center and minority student organizations on campus. Taking place on the Red Wolf Center lawn starting at 11 a.m., it will feature classic games, snacks, and drinks. That afternoon, Rec Fest, hosted by the Red Wolf Center, will run from 4 to 6 p.m. This event allows students to learn about what the center offers.

At the same location, Meet the Greeks will be hosted by the Interfraternity Council, the National Panhellenic Conference, and the National Pan-Hellenic Council. This event will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, August 22. That evening, SAB will host Glow Down Throw Down at the Red Wolf Center from 8 to 11 p.m. This event will feature dance- and glow-themed games.

The A-State Community Fair, featuring booths from local organizations and businesses as well as registered student organizations, will be held on Wednesday, August 28, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Heritage Plaza Lawn.

The Order of the Pack pep rally, beginning at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 29, will take place at Centennial Bank Stadium. This event, hosted by SAB and the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, is a way to welcome new students by introducing them to A-State cheers and chants ahead of the first home football game on Saturday, August 31, when the Red Wolves take on Central Arkansas.
