The program has been held for many years by Arkansas State University for students from grade 8 to grade 12 to truly experience and immerse themselves in the wonderful learning environment of a university ranked in the top 20 best public universities in the Central and Southern United States.

2017 Summer Camp Admissions Announcement at Arkansas State University (USA)

Arkansas State University is proud to offer more than 150 undergraduate programs of study, with strong majors including: Business, Communications, Arts, Information Technology, Engineering, and more. With more than 14,000 students currently enrolled, the university is home to a wealth of professors and PhD holders. A-State also boasts full teaching facilities and modern infrastructure on its spacious campus in the beautiful city of Jonesboro, Arkansas.

Joining the 2020 Global Youth Leadership Program, students will enhance their knowledge and develop their skills through challenging and creative activities alongside American university faculty, community leaders, and heads of major businesses. Students will also take part in fun and beneficial activities and exciting outings with classmates from different countries, experiencing fascinating aspects of American culture and improving their English skills through courses on business English and leadership skills, as well as courses in multimedia communications and photography.

Participants will also take part in sports and arts activities on campus, as well as thrilling weekend shopping trips and outings with current A-State students (including Vietnamese students).

ELIGIBILITY

Ages 14 to 18 (completed grade 8 through grade 12)

DURATION

3 weeks, from July 14, 2020 to July 31, 2020 (not including travel time from Vietnam and transportation to campus)

COURSE TOPICS IN THE PROGRAM

1. Business Communications/Writing for College

In the Global Youth Leadership Program's Business Communications/Writing for College course offered by Arkansas State University, students will take part in creative and engaging business communications classes through games, business-themed writing exercises, and presentations. Students will be divided into different groups and will present a business plan to a panel of judges made up of the university's professors and instructors.

2. Photography

This course is designed to introduce students to the basic principles of photography, such as composition, subject choice, and exposure. In this course, students will learn skills in framing shots and using camera exposure settings such as shutter speed, aperture size, ISO, and flash, as well as overall techniques for taking a great photo.

3. Multimedia

Designed to introduce students to the various media outlets at the university, this program focuses on developing skills in journalism, editing, and publishing for print, television, and online media. Students will have the opportunity to work with many of A-State's own media outlets, such as ASU-TV, The Herald, KASU, and Red Wolf Radio.

IMPORTANT NOTES FOR STUDENTS

Students will follow the university's schedule (a detailed schedule will be sent to students/parents who register for consultation). At the end of the 3-week program, students will receive a certificate of completion.

Please note:

  • Housing and meals are only provided during the official program dates. Students must arrange their own accommodations and meals if arriving early or departing later than scheduled.
  • The camp departs from Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, flying on 4- or 5-star airlines belonging to the SkyTeam, Star Alliance, or OneWorld alliances, and is always accompanied by a group leader from the A-State Vietnam Office to manage and ensure student safety starting from the airport in Vietnam.
  • All transportation services for students upon arrival in the United States are provided by A-State.
  • The detailed itinerary will be posted as soon as possible.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

Step 1: Documents students need to submit to request a letter of invitation:

  • Deposit to reserve a spot: 5,000,000 VND (deducted from the program fee upon full payment)
  • Passport valid for at least 6 months from the departure date
  • Arkansas State University's English test to determine language proficiency level
  • Program registration form

Step 2: US visa application documents:

  • Semester 1 transcript and transcripts from at least the previous 2 years
  • Passport valid for at least 6 months from the departure date
  • Letter of invitation from Arkansas State University
  • Parent's employment verification letter
  • Savings account statement in the parent's name (minimum balance of 200,000,000 VND)
  • Birth certificate

Step 3: After obtaining the visa:

  • Pay 100% of the program fee
  • Attend the Orientation Day organized by us in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi before departure to learn all the details about the program, the university, and the trip.
