Todd Clark Named Chief Marketing and Communications Officer at A-State

JONESBORO – Arkansas State University Chancellor Todd Shields has named Todd Clark as Chief Marketing and Communications Officer (CMCO).
Clark has 18 years of experience in higher education and has served in an interim capacity since October. He will oversee the University's Office of Marketing and Communications and continue to serve on the chancellor's executive cabinet.
Shields praised Clark's fresh vision for the role and his relentless passion for A-State, which he has demonstrated since being appointed to A-State's executive leadership team late last year.
"Todd is known throughout the University as a forward thinker and someone people trust to find the right ideas to solve complex problems," Shields said.
"His talent, combined with his love for everything Arkansas State and the Northeast Arkansas region, makes him the right fit for this moment in our history."
Clark will lead a division responsible for a wide range of marketing and communications functions, including brand management, advertising, internal and external communications, media relations, crisis communications, publications and creative services, photography, videography, social media, and web strategy.
"I am honored to have the opportunity to work with such a talented, creative and dedicated team as we strengthen the A-State brand and actively enhance our presence in an increasingly competitive market," Clark said. "I believe Arkansas State has the right leadership team to drive an unprecedented era of innovation and growth in serving our students, our community, and the state of Arkansas."
Before being named interim CMCO, Clark served as associate director of communications, overseeing the Office of Digital Creative Communications.
Under his direction, the team produced numerous award-winning video, photo, web and social media campaigns. Clark's role grew to include increasing involvement in coordinating communications initiatives across campus.
He joined A-State in 2006 as director of events and constituent relations for the A-State Alumni Association. He joined the UMC division two years later when University leadership named him to lead the redevelopment of the University's website.
"My entire career at A-State has centered on telling the story of life-changing higher education," Clark said. "I experienced that as a first-generation college student and continue to witness it through the countless students who have walked my path and gone on to become leaders in our community, state and region."
Clark is a proud graduate of Blytheville High School and chose A-State to complete his bachelor's degree in management information systems and his master's degree in business administration.
Clark is active in the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE). In July, he completed a two-year term as chair of CASE District IV, which includes colleges, universities and private schools in Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Texas and New Mexico.
Additionally, he was recently named a CASE Laureate, an honor given to a select group of volunteers who have demonstrated a longstanding commitment to the organization and its mission of transforming society through education.
Clark and his wife, Melanie, have two future Red Wolves, Millie and Ross.
